Our client is a not-for-profit healthcare system in Central Florida.
The Coder III is responsible for evaluating and assigning the appropriate ICD-10, CPT-4, and HCPCS codes, as well as abstract pertinent clinical information for bill preparation for the following patient types: Inpatient, Rehabilitation, Observation, Ambulatory Surgery, Obstetrics Observation, Emergency Room, Outpatient Testing, and Series accounts (which include infusions, injections, transfusions, chemotherapy, and outpatient rehab) as outlined in the coding policy and procedure manual. This position is also responsible for researching and resolving coding/billing issues, and analyzing the medical record for completeness, consistency, and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Post High School Special Training
CCS credentials or equivalent
Knowledge of basic and advanced ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding instructions is required, as well as medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Verifiable training in coding systems, advanced medical and anatomical terminology, clinical theory, and reimbursement principles found in college courses, hospital in-service, and/or approved seminars. Minimum of 1-year experience in acute care coding, including Medicare, MS-DRGs, and APR-DRGs
