Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Director of Medical/Surgical Services to oversee and lead our Med/Surg department. As the Director, you will be responsible for managing the delivery of quality patient care, ensuring operational efficiency, and fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. Your expertise in nursing practice, leadership, and strategic planning will be crucial in achieving exceptional patient outcomes and promoting the growth and success of our medical/surgical services.
Coordinates and evaluates the quality of nursing/patient care, financial stability and service productivity. The director is responsible for the professional development and morale of the service teams and has a close working relationship with the general management team and the medical staff to effectively meet system goals, organizational goals and all pillars relating to the departments he/she oversees.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and Administration:
- Provide visionary leadership to the medical/surgical department, setting strategic goals, and implementing effective policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and manage departmental budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocation.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting effective communication and teamwork among staff members.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and protocols related to medical/surgical services.

Quality Improvement:
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Monitor key performance indicators, analyze data, and identify areas for improvement in clinical practices and patient care delivery.
- Promote evidence-based practice and provide guidance and support to nursing staff in implementing best practices.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement clinical pathways and care protocols.

Staff Management and Development:
- Recruit, hire, and retain qualified nursing staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix.
- Provide ongoing supervision, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to nursing staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations, address performance issues, and recognize and reward exceptional performance.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the medical/surgical department.

Collaboration and Communication:
- Foster effective interdisciplinary collaboration with physicians, healthcare providers, and other departments to optimize patient care.
- Serve as a liaison between the medical/surgical department and hospital administration, promoting effective communication and problem-solving.
- Represent the medical/surgical department in meetings, committees, and professional organizations.

Patient Advocacy:
- Ensure the delivery of patient-centered care by promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and dignity.
- Address patient concerns and complaints promptly and effectively, ensuring appropriate resolution.
- Collaborate with patient and family advisory councils to improve the patient experience and incorporate patient feedback into service planning
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- A graduate degree is required.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- Current unrestricted nursing license.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in a director position
- Proven experience in nursing leadership, preferably in a med/surg setting.
- In-depth knowledge of medical/surgical nursing practices, standards, and regulations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building abilities.
- Proficiency in budget management and resource allocation.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic healthcare environment.
