Job Posting: Director of Nursing - Perioperative Services

Location: Detroit, Michigan

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director of Nursing to oversee our Perioperative Services department in our large acute care hospital in the heart of Detroit, Michigan. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our surgical services and contribute to our mission of providing high-quality healthcare to our diverse community.

Responsibilities:

- Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight to the Perioperative Services department, including the main operating room, preoperative services, post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), and sterile processing.

- Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure the highest standards of patient care, safety, and regulatory compliance.

- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, professional growth, and continuous improvement.

- Lead and mentor a team of nursing professionals, including perioperative nurses, surgical technologists, and support staff, ensuring adequate staffing levels and optimal utilization of resources.

- Develop and manage the departmental budget, monitor expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising the quality of care.

- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals, to enhance communication, streamline processes, and improve patient outcomes.

- Implement quality improvement initiatives, monitor key performance indicators, and drive process enhancements to optimize efficiency and patient satisfaction.

- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in perioperative services, and apply knowledge to enhance service delivery and patient experience.

Qualifications:

- Master's degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration is required.

- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan.

- Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in perioperative services, with a strong background in surgical nursing.

- Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements, standards of practice, and quality improvement methodologies in perioperative services.

- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.

- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, foster a positive work environment, and drive performance excellence.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.

- Ability to adapt to changing priorities, work under pressure, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
