Job Description

Our client seeks a Director of Purchasing who will support the implementation of supply chain initiatives and drive the development of standard best practices designed to improve operational efficiencies. This role coordinates all activities related to accomplishing defined business goals. You will work closely with all corporate functional departments and levels. You will also collaborate with external teams to develop and standardize the tools, processes, and solutions aligned with the key operating initiatives.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

 

Required: Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of experience working with and developing field-ready technology, tools, routines, playbooks, and standardized business approaches. Proficiency in leading complex initiatives that include cross-functional team leadership in developing tools and technology. Possesses a wide range of understanding of food service distribution and the food industry, including customers, leading industry issues, and key industry challenges.

 

Preferred: BA/BS in supply chain management, economics, finance, operations, engineering, business, accounting or manufacturing-related field or equivalent experience preferred

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

 

  • Collaborate with all functional departments, including Sales, Marketing, Operations, IT, and Finance, to develop policies, routines, procedures, training, and other capabilities as required.
  • Provide strategic insights and lead continuous improvement efforts in purchasing and vendor management.
  • Lead the development of overall processes and reporting to ensure standardization and compliance.
  • Serve as the Supply Chain owner for all technology development.
  • Contribute to achieving financial and non-financial goals and objectives set forth by leadership.
  • Creates and fosters a high-performance culture that is focused on engagement, accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement, with a customer focus.
  • Participate in supplier meetings with an objective to improve supply chain efficiencies.
  • Conduct customer business reviews to provide guidance and opportunities for improvements.
