The Clinical Manager for Critical Care is responsible for organizing, planning, leading and directing clinical and management activities for the designated department and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. Accountable for daily operations and oversight of nursing practice and patient care delivery. Participates as a member of the healthcare team in maintaining continuity and quality of patient care. Contributes to organizational operations and supports the mission by fostering interdepartmental communication/collaboration. Demonstrates a high level of ability in leadership, supervisory skills, problem-solving, patient advocacy and public relations.
The Clinical Manager of Critical Care manages and evaluates the clinical operations, programs, and resources of the assigned clinical area/facility to assure the safe and appropriate delivery of patient care.
The Clinical Manager of Critical Care ensures that all activities are conducted in a timely and cost-effective manner and in compliance with organizational values, professional standards, internal policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
The Clinical Manager of Critical Care participates in the development of and implements new clinical systems/programs to enhance existing services and raise the standard of care for the patient population served.
The Clinical Manager of Critical Care ensures that work unit activities, productivity, and/or quality indicators are documented in accordance with guidelines. Oversees the resolution of daily clinical administrative and operational issues. Monitors/troubleshoots service recovery and other escalated concerns and resolves within the defined scope of responsibility.
The Clinical Manager of Critical Care collaborates with other departments to address and resolve problems, share information and enhance overall effectiveness/productivity.
Staff Management and Development:
The Clinical Manager of Critical Care plans manages and evaluates the work of clinical and administrative staff in accordance with the content, spirit, and intent of applicable internal/external regulations and standards for human resource management.
The Clinical Manager of Critical Care ensures that employees are qualified and properly trained to perform assigned job duties.
The Clinical Manager of Critical Care Holds regular staff meetings and keeps employees apprised of all matters relevant to successful job performance.
The Clinical Manager of Critical Care Makes employment decisions, establishes performance standards and evaluates employee performance.
The Clinical Manager of Critical Care Educates, guides, counsels and develops staff and addresses performance management concerns and technical issues elevated by subordinates as beyond their scope of authority.
Regulatory compliance, budget, performance, and quality improvement with short and long planning
Education/Work Experience Requirements
Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
BSN or Bachelors’s degree in a related field is preferred.
Three years’ experience and clinical knowledge in the same or similar clinical specialty.
Two years in a charge nurse/ leadership or equivalent position required.
Clinical knowledge as a Registered Nurse in the same or similar clinical specialty preferred.
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Washington State Board of Nursing or eligible.
Certification in specialty area preferred.
Current healthcare provider BLS certification.
