Improves current products as well as designs and develops new products from engineering specifications and sales/marketing department recommendations through the integration of appropriate materials and manufacturing methods by performing the following duties. LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Creates 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software.

Establishes and documents performance of test prototypes.

Ensures product design complies with engineering principles, company standards and customer requirements.
Collaborates on projects with other engineers as well as other department staff and key suppliers.

Estimates and establishes costs and budgets for designs.
Prepares technical documents, product and quality assurance specifications, and operation manuals.

Organizes projects and create schedules.
Reviews and monitors manufacturing of product designs in conjunction with the Engineering Manager.

Recommends product improvements as necessary.
Generates design change documentation, revisions, and drawing releases.

Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school along with a minimum of five years related experience.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Must have solid knowledge of standard drafting practices and tolerances; and manufacturing processes and equipment. Must be able to use measurement tools (e.g., verniers, micrometers).

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD software; should have knowledge of Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order Processing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Working knowledge of UL and NSF safety and health standards preferred.
