The Physician Assistant (PA-C) performs invasive procedures such as thoracenteses, chest tube insertions, placement of central venous, dialysis and Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines and intra-aortic balloon pumps, as assigned, Retrieves vascular tissue, including greater and lesser saphenous veins and/or radial arteries, for use as a bypass conduit

The Physician Assistant (PA-C) Troubleshoots problems and communicates the problems to the OR staff, surgeon and anesthesia provider as appropriate
The Physician Assistant (PA-C) Fills the role as the first assistant in the OR on adult cardiac cases, thoracic and major/minor vascular cases
Arrives in the OR within the approved timeframe when on call, Greets patient, identifies patient and introduces self to patient, Assesses physical and psychological needs of patient and provides support as needed
Completes skin preparation and draping, provides wound exposure through the proper use of retractors so the surgeon may clearly view the operative site through the use of suction and sponges, provides a dry field of operation to permit optimum the vision of tissue, viscera, vessels. . .
Provides hemostasis by use of clamps, cautery, ligation, completes partial wound closure subcutaneous tissues. Applies in an application of special dressings. Assists in transfer of patient to bed or cart
Demonstrates sound clinical judgment. Initiates interventions efficiently, safely and skillfully. Provides knowledge-based technical assistance such as using surgical instruments, handling tissue, providing exposure, achieving hemostasis and wound closure. Collaborates closely with the RN circulator The Physician Assistant (PA-C) serves as an information resource for other members of the surgical team
You will function as a role model for all staff members. Participates in staff education. Identifies staff educational needs and notifies the coordinator, manager, director or educator as Functions as a preceptor for new associates. Attends all staff meetings and in-services

Physician Assistant Licensure in the state of Florida or eligible
Completion of a program that is approved by the Florida Board of Medicine and national
2 years of relevant cardiovascular experience
Maintains continuing education relative to practice
