The Physician Assistant (PA-C) Performs H&Ps
The Physician Assistant (PA-C) Makes daily patient rounds providing patient care expertise in the postoperative acute care units, step-down units, and regular floors
The Physician Assistant (PA-C) Possesses extensive knowledge of the pharmacologic effects of vasoactive/cardiotonic drugs, ventilator management, and artificial cardiac devices
The Physician Assistant (PA-C) Is well versed in the management of other disease entities frequently encountered in the cardiac population, namely hypertension, diabetes, COPD, asthma, hypothyroidism, and others
The Physician Assistant (PA-C) Educates patients
The Physician Assistant (PA-C) Interprets clinical results, reports; writes orders in response to results and reports critical results as required by policy
The Physician Assistant (PA-C) Dictates discharge summaries

The Physician Assistant (PA-C) provides professional care in the Operating Room
The Physician Assistant (PA-C) performs invasive procedures such as thoracenteses, chest tube insertions, placement of central venous, dialysis and Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines and intra-aortic balloon pumps, as assigned, Retrieves vascular tissue, including greater and lesser saphenous veins and/or radial arteries, for use as a bypass conduit
The Physician Assistant (PA-C) Works closely with the physician to expedite the procedure and limit the patient s morbidity and mortality
The Physician Assistant (PA-C) Troubleshoots problems and communicates the problems to the OR staff, surgeon and anesthesia provider as appropriate
The Physician Assistant (PA-C) Fills the role as the first assistant in the OR on adult cardiac cases, thoracic and major/minor vascular

Physician Assistant Licensure in the state of Florida or eligible

BLS/ACLS certification

Completion of a program that is approved by the Florida Board of Medicine and nation

certification (NCCPA)
Masters Degree required

2 years of relevant cardiovascular experience

Maintains continuing education relative to the practice

Maintains competence as a Physician Assistant
