Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Psychologist to join our dynamic team in an Acute Care Trauma Hospital setting. As a Clinical Psychologist, you will play a vital role in providing specialized psychological care to patients who have experienced trauma or critical incidents. Your expertise will contribute to their emotional healing, resilience, and overall well-being. Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments of patients who have experienced trauma or critical incidents, utilizing evidence-based assessment tools and techniques.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment results, utilizing evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused CBT, and other trauma-informed approaches.
- Provide crisis intervention services to patients experiencing acute distress or emotional upheaval as a result of trauma.
- Offer individual and group therapy sessions to patients, focusing on trauma recovery, emotional regulation, coping skills development, and post-traumatic growth.
- Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists, to provide integrated and holistic patient care.
- Participate in case conferences, treatment planning meetings, and team discussions to ensure coordinated care and effective communication among all healthcare professionals.
- Conduct psychoeducation sessions for patients, families, and caregivers to enhance their understanding of trauma, recovery processes, and available resources.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, staying abreast of current research and best practices in the field of trauma psychology.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries, adhering to hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from an accredited university.
- Valid state license to practice as a Clinical Psychologist.
- Demonstrated expertise in trauma psychology and acute care settings through specialized training, coursework, or relevant experience.
- Experience conducting psychological assessments and providing evidence-based individual and group therapy for trauma-affected populations.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and an ability to adapt therapeutic approaches to meet the unique needs of trauma survivors.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport, establish trust, and collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex psychological concepts in a clear and compassionate manner.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team, displaying flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
- High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
