Controller
Job Description
Our client is a full-service group purchasing organization that is expanding rapidly both organically and through M&A by leveraging its innovative technology platform and central accounting expertise.
They seek a Controller to join their high-performing, tech-enabled accounting department to oversee financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, treasury, central pay accounting services, and rebate accounting. This person will be a collaborative leader with a passion for leading a team and enhancing the business through knowledge sharing, technology, and business process enhancement. This role will report to the CFO.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Financial Management & Accounting: o Oversee all general ledger activities, including month-end and year-end close processes o Ensure accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP o Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, accruals, and reconciliations o Oversee rebate accounting, vendor program revenue, and member distributions o Develop annual budgets, forecast cash flow, and analyze variances to provide strategic financial advice o Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies
- Treasury & Cash Management to Provide leadership and oversight of treasury and cash management functions o Ensure timely collections from customers o Oversee credit, payment terms, and risk management processes
- Internal Controls & Process improvement: o Drive process improvements, automation, and system enhancements o Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls to ensure a high degree of accuracy of financial reporting and compliance o Introduce internal control policies to centralized accounting and rebate accounting procedures to deliver high-quality information to external members
- Customer Service & Member Support o Oversee Customer Service Managers to ensure financial inquiries are handled accurately and professionally o Ensure high service standards related to billing, rebates, and member financial support o Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve escalated member and vendor issues
- Leadership & Strategic Support o Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team across finance, data, treasury, and customer service functions. Relevant Experience:
- CPA required
- 5+ years of experience leading an accounting team
- Bachelor’s in accounting or finance
- Group Purchasing Organization experience
- Manufacturing, distribution, retail, consumer products, B2B industries
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Extraordinary attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills
- Public accounting
- Rebate accounting
Job Location: This position will be based in Denver, Colorado, and work will be performed via a hybrid schedule with in-office required Monday-Thursday (Friday optional WFH).
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual base salary: $160,000-$170,000, depending on experience
- Annual incentive compensation is available
