Position Summary

Under the direction of the VP CQO, the Director of Clinical Risk & Patient Relations - The Corp Director, Clinical Risk and Patient Relations is responsible for the supervision and ongoing development/improvement of the medical center's clinical loss prevention programs and activities, including risk identification and evaluation, regulatory compliance, patient relations, quality/safety/organizational improvement/risk initiatives, and risk-focused education. Related functions include: Supervise the patient relations program and staff, facilitating and enhancing relations between patients, family, visitors, and the general public with the Medical Center and its affiliated organizations, physicians, team members/leaders, physicians, and auxiliary; Oversee onsite regulatory/accreditation survey activities, e.g., AHCA, DCF, DOH, and The Joint Commission, preparing and/or approving post-visit plans of correction and monitoring implementation/problem resolution; Communicate/collaborate with UFHCF Claims Manager in timely identification and investigation of potentially compensable events. Advance risk management by maintaining open communications and productive relationships with internal and external customers.

Educational Requirements


o Graduate Degree (Preferred) or in process

o Bachelor’s Degree


  • FL-licensed Registered Nurse or other clinical licensure (required), FL- Licensed Healthcare Risk Manager (required)

Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training

o Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

o Computer literacy including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, able to learn/use MIDAS reporting system; excellent interpersonal skills. Risk Management experience in a health care setting preferred. Knowledge and ability to perform RCA/FMEA. Must be able to lead team meetings and set up objective goals that are measurable for Performance Activities related to Risk Management. Ability to present data in a usable to format; able to teach and speak to various audiences relative to clinical risk management and patient safety.
