Director of HVAC - Philadelphia, PA - New HVAC Technology Start-Up

We have an exciting unique opportunity for an experienced and adaptable Director of HVAC with a new HVAC Technology Start-Up. The Director of HVAC will leverage their extensive experience in HVAC leadership and product development earned within a prominent HVAC Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). The individual should have a proven record in entrepreneurial ventures or launching new products, showcasing a mindset that thrives on innovation, and a resilient attitude towards challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Leverage your extensive knowledge of commercial HVAC systems to guide installation, repair, and maintenance projects.
  • Ensure optimal performance of our HVAC-connected products and platforms through regular maintenance.
  • Lead the planning, designing, and implementation of the Carbon Capsule within existing and new installations.
  • Collaborate with contract manufacturers and large OEM partners.
  • Lead the initiative to secure safety and performance certifications for our products, such as ISO and UL, ensuring we adhere to all industry standards and best practices.
  • Manage inventory for Carbon Capsule maintenance and installation, based on material estimates.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, senior leadership, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Interpret blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams related to HVAC systems and Carbon Capsule integration.
  • Maintain effective relationships with customers and their representatives, providing ongoing support and education on Carbon Capsule systems Utilize data and customer feedback to refine product designs and installation processes.
  • Understand and ensure all health and safety protocols and guidelines are followed while operating company vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
  • Identify situations that require escalation for further guidance or additional support, fostering a culture of proactive communication and continuous improvement.
  • Comply with all necessary health and safety training and maintain all required state or national licensing.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional HVAC certification or degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of leadership experience in the HVAC industry within a major OEM
  • Expertise in plumbing systems and installation
  • Proficiency in working with BAS systems like BACnet.
  • Solid understanding of building automation controls and IoT systems
  • Experience with energy-efficient HVAC systems is a must, experience with carbon capture technologies is a bonus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Most of the experience has been in the field performing installations with a track record of increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Worked with an OEM developing new products by applying field driven feedback to the design process.
  • Strong familiarity with all ancillary trades including electrical and plumbing, preferably by direct supervision of those subcontractors.
  • Diverse building and system knowledge including higher education, office, K-12, manufacturing, LEED, or other accredited high-performance buildings, etc.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset - a desire to lean in and help make the product better.
