The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in technical support areas for commercial and/or industrial and residential refrigeration.

The candidate reports directly to the Service Director, Branch Manager, and Executive Vice President.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Parts Department / Backup Current Parts Manager:

Parts research—Based upon the Model and Serial Number of Equipment, research customer and service technician parts queries, ask appropriate technical questions to ensure that correct parts are being quoted, and process corresponding parts orders to sell parts to repair the problem and exceed the customer's needs. 

Maintain professional customer relationships and goodwill by properly greeting, acknowledging, and responding to all customer inquiries on a timely and professional basis by phone, email, text, or in person. 

  1. Service Department / Customer Service

Works as part of the Service Team. 

Assist in handling customer complaints and concerns to ensure the problem is corrected to the customer’s satisfaction, treat all customers fairly, with honesty and integrity, and demonstrate our commitment to superior customer service and ethical business practices.

Uses electrical and refrigeration troubleshooting techniques to assist customers and technicians in properly diagnosing the root cause of their technical issues while providing a time-bound and accurate resolution.

Log, Dispatch, and Track Warranty Calls from Start through to completion.

Must be able to write detailed technical e-mails to service companies, consultants, and end users, and must have good command of the English Language. (Multilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.)   

Must be able to work on equipment repair when required in our corporate warehouse, service area, at end user, or installation site. This entails troubleshooting, component replacement, brazing/welding, refrigerant recovery, nitrogen pressure testing, vacuuming of the system, and initial charging.

Must be able to consult with field technicians, contractors, dealers, consultants, and end users on various stages of installations, including, but not limited to, Pre-Purchase Advice, Site Preparation, Product Assembly, Refrigeration, Electrical, and Plumbing Connections, Start-ups, Troubleshooting, Maintenance, and more.

  1. Field Work

Must be able to travel regionally, nationally, and internationally to job sites under multiple scenarios.

Diagnose and fix/repair existing equipment in the field, must be able to travel with key/minimal tools and predetermined critical parts and work in conjunction with local service providers to repair equipment in the field.

Work with local general contractors, assist installation companies with installation planning and perform site surveys when requested.

When directed, supervise and participate in new equipment installations and panel (Cabinet) assembly, perform and/or assist with internal equipment wiring, and perform internal wiring checks. Lend expertise when it comes to refrigeration piping, review all welding and brazing work, ensure that equipment is correctly assembled, interconnected, and started up according to factory specifications, and complete the startup checklist.

Skills Required:

PC-based knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of CRM/ticketing systems is helpful. Basic internet and web-based app skills.

Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills are a must. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively listen, interpret, and respond to the customer’s needs while speaking effectively and confidently over the phone, in person, by email, or when using text. The ideal candidate will be fluent in reading and writing in English. Spanish is a plus.

Must be able to read and interpret parts drawings, wiring diagrams, construction blueprints, service manuals, and other technical data sheets.

Advanced refrigeration, basic plumbing, and electric principles. Ability to trace circuits accurately for troubleshooting purposes. Ability to use a digital multimeter, amp clamp, gauge sets (both analog and digital), and other assorted metering equipment.

Must be physically fit and have the required stamina to work full days in both hot and cold environments, lift 80+ pounds, work in tight spaces and awkward positions, and not be afraid of getting “your hands dirty.” 

The Service Manager will be ideally based in Southern or Northern California, or the Mountain Region of Phoenix AZ, or Salt Lake City, UT, Denver, CO, or Las Vegas, NV. Travel mostly in the western half of the country with occasional national and international travel expected.
